Baby showers are often considered to be special events surrounded by your closest friends and family members as you celebrate getting ready to shortly welcome your little one to the world. However, one expectant mother was left devastated when all 17 of her guests who had told her they would be coming cancelled 'hours before the shower' over text message.
The pregnant woman's best friend who organised the baby shower and all the decorations revealed that not one other person turned up to the celebration, the Mirror reports. The woman took to TikTok under @spins.in.circles to explain the heartbreaking situation as she said her pal 'deserved so much more'.
The moving clip has now raked in over 770,000 views as the TikToker revealed that her pregnant friend was left in tears. Captioning the post, the woman wrote: "People can be cold - she deserves so much more..."
She explained: "POV: You spent weeks preparing your bestie's baby shower... We were both so excited for the shower. I started making all the fun decorations. But hours before the shower, people started to text her..."
Sharing a text message, the expecting parent expressed her worries that no one would show up to the occasion as she told her friend: "I'm seriously getting overwhelmed. Everyone messaging saying sorry can't make it."
Her pal further explained: "17 people sent back an RSVP. But not a single person came. Somehow she managed to smile through it. But I knew her heart was crushed."
Despite putting on a brave face throughout the day, the pregnant woman admitted to her best friend over text that she 'can't stop crying' and that are face and eyes were so swollen she could barely open them. Confronting the unreliable guests who failed to show face, the woman bravely posted an upset message on the event's page but not one person responded to her.
The message read: "Usually I wouldn't say anything, but I do want to express how important it is to let people know if you are not going to be attending. 17 people RSVP'd, and not a single one showed up.
"I understand that life happens - so please don't commit to events that you aren't 100% sure you will be attending. It would've been easier to just reschedule."
Sympathetic social media users were left emotional by the upsetting situation and flocked to the comments section to praise the woman for being such a good friend. One person said: "One friend like you is worth the 17 that didn't show."
Relating to the disheartening experience, another wrote: "40 people invited to my daughters. 30 RSVP'd. Only five showed up. People are cruel anymore."
Another person commented: "That happened to me too.. It wasn't even about gifts more so them not keeping their word."
