A Scots teenager lobbed cruel abuse at a woman about her weight and called her “thunder thighs” on a train journey.
Tyler Duncan targeted the victim and her pal at Waverley rail station in Edinburgh and after they got on a train.
The 19-year-old, who didn’t know the victims, left them scared and upset after continuing to hurl derogatory bile.
Duncan appeared at the city’s sheriff court on Wednesday and admitted a change of threatening or abusive behaviour.
Fiscal depute Matthew Miller said the two women had been waiting in the station to catch a train to Cowdenbeath.
Mr Miller said Duncan was with two pals and he began to aim offensive jibes.
The prosecutor said: “Mr Duncan made remarks like, 'Look at the state of you', 'thunder thighs' and other remarks in relation to one of the woman’s weight.”
The court was told both groups boarded the train and Duncan “continued to shout aggressively towards the victims”.
Mr Miller said Duncan made “similar comments with similar words” to the woman who felt “fear and alarm” during the incident on November 20 2020.
Defence agent James McMackin said his labourer client “greatly regrets his behaviour”.
Mr McMackin said the first offender and his friends had been drinking heavily and got on the wrong train which took them to Edinburgh.
The sheriff said Duncan caused the women “distress” and “particularly” the victim targeted over her weight.
The sheriff fined Duncan, of Kirkcaldy, £290.
