True crime fans have kicked off a new TikTok trend, with a slightly sinister twist, which fans are loving.
Women are going viral for sharing their 'In Case I Go Missing' folders, which contain details for the police or their family, as the title suggests, if they ever go missing. The idea is to help people locate you as quickly as possible if you've been the victim of a crime, or involved in an accident or natural disaster.
The folders contain everything from important documents to DNA samples, and videos detailing what to include can accrue millions of views and likes. Many people have praised the idea and spoken about creating their own.

In one video, user savor.it.all explains everything she's included in her folder, saying: "This is my in case I go missing binder. I have a medical section with all of my doctors and therapists info and my medication history, a section for photos of all my tattoos, scars, and me with different hair colours and styles.
"I also have a place to put upcoming travel info in, including where I'm staying and with who. A place for everything single one of my passwords including social media and dating sites and snapchat, and a place to put info about my home like my home address, and all other places I've lived. And of course a place for important documents like my birth certificate."
In follow-up videos, she explains that she has added a sample of her hair, as well as contact details for friends and ex boyfriends. The comments are full of other users praising her idea, with one commenting: "This is such a good idea." and another saying: "this feels like a good idea for single travellers."
Many were quick to draw parallels to true crime shows and podcasts, where often they highlight unsolved cases being stagnated due to lack of information about the victim. One user commented: "Tell me you watch crime shows without telling me. This is actually genius." and a laughing emoji, and another said: "as a fellow listener of true crime podcast I commend you".
Others have chimed in with advice. One user said: "From a CSI: add a fingerprint card, which dentist has ur dental records, a dried buccal swab, and a hair sample with the root" and another said: "make sure it's in a secure location that a few people know about including your lawyer. otherwise it's a "how to make sure I go missing" binder lol".
