Woman bags £70 of B&M items for £3 using special 'scanner'

A woman was thrilled with her B&M bargains after getting £70 worth of stock for just £3.

Posting in a Facebook group dedicated to fans of the retailer, the woman said she managed to pick up three rugs from the budget retailer for the reduced price thanks to a scanner found on the B&M app.

Sharing a photo of her haul on a budget Facebook group, she said: "Finally found a Bargain at B&M by using the scanner in the App! Each rug - £1 each!!", the MEN reports.

Two of the chunky knit "supersoft" rugs had £15 price stickers, while the third was priced at £40.

She was quickly hit with questions from other shoppers who were keen to get their hands on similar deals. The woman explained the scanner, which is found at the bottom of the screen when you launch the app, lets you scan the barcode of any item in store to see if the price has come down.

It mainly picks up items that are being sold off, including end of line and clearance products, which staff have not yet had chance to mark down in store.

Responding to the numerous questions about her clever find, the woman said: "When you're in store open the app onto the scanner and you can scan anything you want that they sell. I've been doing it a while and only just found these bargains so it can be hit and miss, but there's lots of 'sets' etc in the sale after Christmas so it's a great time to use the scanner to find some cheaper things as they don't always mark them down on the shelves."

Many of the shoppers said they'll be giving the app a go themselves. One said: "We need to download the app and have a day out in B&M scanning for bargains", while another added: "We need to go!!" and a third said: "How did I not know about this."

A B&M spokeswoman said the scanner launched around three years ago and has built up a huge following. It's so popular in fact that there are Facebook groups where people share what they've managed to find in stores.

She said: "B&M aim to provide customers with an exciting shopping experience, always offering great products at fantastic prices. We’re delighted that our customers love finding a bargain deal as much as we do, and the scanner app has continued to grow in popularity since it launched.

"The dedication shown by the army of bargain hunters to seek out the best deals is proof that everybody loves a bargain."
