Woman attacked on public footpath in Arbroath as police hunt thug

Police are hunting a thug after a woman was attacked on a footpath in Arbroath.

The terrifying assault happened in the Glenogil Drive area of the town at the weekend.

Officers said the 40-year-old victim was walking on a footpath near Moonlight Gardens at 1.20am on Saturday when she was attacked.

Several residents in nearby housing were alerted by the disturbance and shouted at the attacker who ran off.

He was last seen heading towards the adjoining playing fields or in the Seaton Road direction.

The man is described as being around 5ft 3in tall or slightly taller, medium build, dark trousers with possibly a lighter colour jacket, dark hair with gel and a foreign accent.

Detective Inspector Graeme Wishart said: “Door to door enquiries have been carried out and we would urge anyone who may have seen or heard anything to come forward.

“If anyone has any doorbell or dashcam footage of anyone matching the description of the attacker they should get in touch with Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 0356 from 7 May 2022.

“You can also contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
