Woman and teen charged in connection with 'assault' after Scots boy needed 10 staples in head

A 36-year-old woman and 14-year-old teenager have been charged in connection with an assault after an 11-year-old boy required hospital treatment for an injury.

Alexander Stewart spent hours receiving medical treatment at Forth Valley Hospital on Sunday March 20.

The 11-year-old had to have 10 staples in his head after the alleged incident around 1.40pm during a game of football in a playing field in Bo'ness.

Speaking earlier today his mum Beverly Brown, 38, said words could not describe her anger at the situation.

She told Falkirk Live: "We were at the hospital for about seven hours. The medics wanted to make sure there was no internal bleeding.

"He has ten staples in his head, and the nurse said it will be months before his injury is better.

"Alexander is now terrified to leave the house and when he does, he won't go out without a cap because of the staples."

Police Scotland have now confirmed a 14-year-old boy and 36-year-old woman have been charged in connection with the incident on Grahamsdyke Road.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a report of an assault on an 11-year-old boy on Grahamsdyke Road in Bo’ness, around 1.40pm on Sunday 20 March 2022.

“A 14-year-old boy and 36-year-old woman have been charged in connection with the incident and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
