Woman and her dog attacked by another dog near children's play area in Newark

A woman and her dog were injured after being attacked by another dog near a children's play area.

The incident occurred on Cleveland Green between the play area and Beech Avenue in Newark at around around 12.30pm on Monday, January 31.

Police say the dog, which is described as a brown Bull Terrier, was not on a lead and was led away by a white man in his 40s.

He is described as being quite tall, of slim build and wearing a hat.

The dog attacked was taken to a local vet for treatment for its injuries.

A spokesperson for Newark Police said: "The local neighbourhood policing team are appealing for witnesses, or anyone else with information about the incident, to contact police on 101, quoting crime number 22000060645 or to email Newark NPT on newarknpt@Notts.Police.uk.

"Recently there have been an increase in reports of dogs being allowed to attack people, dogs and wildlife around Newark.

"Owners are reminded that dogs should be under control in a public places.

"It is a criminal offence for a dog to be dangerously out of control."
