Woman Accused Of Stealing A Phone Charger On A Flight In Viral TikTok Speaks Out After Death Threats

An American woman has taken to the court of TikTok to plead her case after a video of her allegedly stealing a phone charger on a flight went viral.

The video — which was posted a week ago by TikTok user Eddie Orellano (@RcRelated) — showed a blonde woman as she made her way down the aisle of a flight as a man behind the camera asked her whether she took his phone charger, which was plugged into the seat in front of him on the plane.

“Yeah, I have it,” the woman replied.

Orellano wasn’t too happy with that response, responding: “Why? Why would you take my charger?”

He then berates her for taking it without asking while she maintains that she was “going to give it back”.

It’s a very strange scenario and an odd exchange, which is probably why the video has racked up more than 16 million views at the time of writing.

You can watch it for yourself below.

Orellano followed up with another vid to clarify what went down from his perspective two days later. He explained that he was on a flight with his wife that had been delayed three times. On the third time, the pilot gave the passengers an option to leave the plane to get something to eat before reboarding.

While they were getting some food in the terminal, another passenger approached them to alert them that a woman had taken his phone charger from the plane.

He claimed that he told the flight attendants, who then told him he had the right to “call the authorities” so that the woman could be “removed from the flight and arrested for stealing.” Orellano said that because he didn’t want the flight to be delayed further, he decided not to call the authorities.

With Orellano’s video gaining so much traction, the woman who stole the charger was quickly identified as American woman Vanessa Clover, who took to TikTok to post her own account of what went down.

She claimed that despite the incident going down over a year ago, she’d started finding her social media accounts “flooded with death threats” and “harassment”.

Clover explained that she was sitting at the back of the plane and found a charger on the ground. After asking those around her if they’d lost a charger she picked it up to follow instructions from flight attendants to remove all items from the plane as they disembarked. She says she tried to give it to a flight attendant but they didn’t accept it as they couldn’t be responsible for the passenger’s items.

When she got back on the plane, she claimed Orellano was already filming and questioning other passengers about his missing phone charger.

“When I got on, I immediately told him I would get him his charger, but just to give me a second,” she said in the video.

“Several hours had passed… it was honestly the last thing on my mind. I did not even know where this charger was.”

When a video from over a year ago taken out of context goes viral…. While I should have responded better, please consider there are always two sides to every story! 🫶🏻 @RcRelated @RcRelated

Holding her cat in a carrier as she walked down the aisle of the plane, and feeling threatened by Orellano’s behaviour, she wanted to “find a safe place to set my cat down and my luggage, and also get a little bit of distance from this very aggressive, erratic man, for my own safety.”

Although she didn’t intend to speak on the bonkers scenario, Clover said she felt she had to after it became completely “blown out of proportion.”

“So many of you are quick to believe I’m some sort of evil villain over a phone charger on the ground of an empty flight that I did attempt to hand to crew,” she said.

“This man is yelling in my face the second I came on board, of course I didn’t greet him with a smile.”

Now that Clover’s account has come out, the comment section on TikTok is being much more sympathetic towards her and turned on Orellano for being kind of dramatic over a very minor inconvenience.

I think situations like this are a great reminder that it’s not that serious. Go touch some grass, kiss your dog on the head, remind yourself that phone chargers are like $10, get some perspective and move on.
