A woman has been accused of stabbing her politician lover just hours after they ended their extramarital fling.
Daisa Garcia, 29, had visited congressional candidate Saulo Batista da Silva’s flat on September 26 to collect some belongings after the pair had split up last weekend.
The home, located in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil, became the scene of a heated altercation after Daisa walked in to find her ex-flame with his wife.
The 40-year-old Brazilian congressional candidate suffered three stab wounds to his chest during the row, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The dad-of-two is believed to have told Garcia that he was attending a campaign event for next month’s general election, when the influencer arrived and found him with his wife, a police report says.
A row then kicked off between the trio, which saw building workers jumping in to separate them. The workers took Garcia to another flat that Batista owns one floor below.
Shortly afterwards, the argument erupted again and the influencer allegedly stabbed her ex-lover three times.
During the altercation with her ex-flame, Garcia reached for an object on the table and used it to strike him, but claimed that she did not know the object was a knife at the time.
Batista’s wife told the authorities that she could hear loud noises coming from the property and went to check.
She was forced to hide in a room under renovation when Garcia allegedly chased her.
Batista was taken to a hospital in Campo Grande, where he was treated for three stab wounds to his chest.
The politician is yet to speak publicly about the alleged stabbing incident, but he did post a photo to his Instagram, showing himself wearing a medical gown and sitting in a wheelchair.
According to reports, Batista left the hospital without being discharged.
Meanwhile, Garcia told police that although she had previously taken out a restraining order against her ex-lover, she continued to see him and never got it lifted by the court.
The influencer gave a statement to police in Campo Verde while in the company of her lawyer Kalanit Tiecher.
She reportedly told officers that Batista and his wife assaulted her and pulled her hair, adding that she reached for “something on the table” and used it to strike the politician.
She also showed officers bruise marks on her left arm, claiming they were inflicted during the three-way row.
Garcia was released without charges and the investigation is ongoing.
