Woman accused of stabbing man, 24, appears in court

A woman accused of repeatedly stabbing a man outside her Croxteth home has appeared in court.

Natalie Bennett, 46, allegedly stabbed the 24-year-old multiple times at around 6.30pm on Saturday, March 11, on Carr Lane East. The man suffered serious injuries, including a hole in the heart and stab wounds to his upper chest, shoulder blade and armpit, and was taken to hospital, where he remains in an induced coma.

Bennett was arrested at the scene and was charged with section 18 wounding. Two other people, a man aged 44 and a woman aged 49, were also arrested and released on conditional bail.

Appearing at Liverpool Magistrates' Court today, March 13, in a grey jogging suit, Bennett spoke only to confirm her name and address.

No application was made for bail, and she was remanded in custody awaiting a further hearing at Liverpool Crown Court on April 11. However, it was mentioned that she may appear in court at an earlier date to be arranged following a bail application.

Police remained on Carr Lane East on Sunday, with a blue forensic tent set up outside the front door of the house and a tarpaulin pulled across the entrance. The court heard the investigation remains ongoing, with officers carrying out CCTV enquiries.
