A Queensland woman accused of attempting to murder a 43-year-old man by stabbing him in the chest will remain behind bars following a brief court hearing.

Pierina Daidone, 44, of Grange in Brisbane's north, has been charged with one count of attempt to murder as a domestic violence offence and one count of endangering property by fire following a 5.20am incident at a home on Thursday last week.

Police were called to a property on Inglis Street following reports of an alleged assault and a small fire.

The man was transported to hospital in a critical condition and Daidone was taken into custody at the property, before being transported to hospital in a stable condition.

Daidone's case was heard in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday but she was not required to appear as she was not yet legally represented.

Police have previously said neighbours and a jogger came to the man's aid on Thursday last week after he suffered a 20-centimetre stab wound while drinking coffee on a balcony, leading to significant blood loss.

Prosecutors have alleged Daidone "wilfully and unlawfully set fire to curtains which was situated so that a building was likely to catch fire from it" during the incident.

Daidone did not apply for bail and the matter was scheduled to return to court on April 17.
