An investigation has been launched after a woman died in a flat fire.
Emergency services rushed to a house in Warrington after reports of a flat fire on Lyon Street in Latchford. Fire crews from Stockton Heath, Warrington and Lymm attended the blaze at around 9.45pm on Tuesday, May 3.
Cheshire Police confirmed today a woman in her 70s had sadly died in the fire. Formal identification has not yet to take place but her next of kin have been informed.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service are now investigating the cause of the fire.
Cheshire Police told Manchester Evening News : "At 10.10pm on Tuesday May 3, police were called to support Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service following a fire at a flat on Lyon Street, Latchford. Sadly, a woman died as a result of the fire.
"Formal identification has not yet taken place, but she is believed to be in her 70s. Her next of kin have been informed. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has launched an investigation into the cause of a fire."
In a statement on Tuesday night Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters from three stations were called to a report of a serious fire in a flat on Lyon Street at around 9.45pm on Tuesday. Wearing breathing apparatus they used a hose reel water jet to extinguish the fire and contain it to the flat in which it started. An investigation into the cause is underway."
