A woman is in serious condition after an alleged hit and run in Co Meath.
The alleged incident happened on Frederick Street in Ashbourne in the early hours of the Bank Holiday Monday. The scene near the town's Bank of Ireland branch was sealed off.
The woman, aged in her 50s, was removed to hospital by ambulance for her injuries that gardai confirmed are "believed to be serious", the Irish Mirror reports. Investigators did a technical examination of the scene as they gathered CCTV footage from the nearby businesses.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardai are investigating all the circumstances surrounding a single vehicle road traffic incident which occurred on Frederick Street in Ashbourne, Co Meath in the early hours of Monday morning, April 10.
"A woman aged in her 50s was taken from the scene to be treated for her injuries which are believed to be serious. Enquiries are ongoing."
