Woman, 30, and four year-old boy, hospitalised after dog attack in Scottish Borders

A BOY and a woman were taken to hospital for treatment after being attacked by a dog in the Scottish Borders.

The woman, 35, and the four year-old boy were walking in Hawick in the Wilson Drive area when they were attacked from behind by a brown and tan Staffordshire Bull Terrier type dog.   Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses following the attack that happened on January 4 around 3pm.

The boy received facial injuries resulting from the attack and the woman suffered from an arm injury.    The dog was last seen heading towards Chay Blyth Place.

The woman and child were both taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment.

Anyone who witnessed what happened, or who may have information that could help identify the owner of the dog responsible, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1789 of Saturday, 4 January 2025.
