A YOUNG woman has died and four people have been injured after a crash between two cars and a van in Fife on Hogmanay.
Police were called to Standing Stane Road around 1.05pm on New Year’s Eve after a collision between a BMW, Mercedes Sprinter and Ford Focus.
A woman, 26, who was the driver of the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger of the same car, a 22-year-old man and the driver of the van, a 46-year-old man, were both taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.
A 62-year-old woman and 63-year-old man from the third vehicle were taken to Victoria Hospital for treatment where they were later released.
Inspector James Henry said: “Our thoughts are with the families of all those involved.”
The road was closed for collision investigations to take place and opened at 8am on Wednesday.
