Woman, 21, could be jailed after posing in lingerie with church in background

A Russian actress may be jailed for posing almost naked in front of a Russian church.

Angelina Kuznetsova, 21, faced a flood of complaints after posting a photo of herself online to promote a hotel with a prominent place of worship in Yekaterinburg visible in the background.

This comes as three women face a possible fine or a jail sentence after a model posed in front of a Moscow mosque wearing only a fur coat and lingerie.

Kuznetsova is one of several adult stars to face legal problems as Russia uses new laws to crack down on "indecent" displays near religious or state buildings.

The OnlyFans model posed to her 210,000 Instagram followers showing her and a friend outside the RentHouse hotel, however, the Bolshoi Zlatoust Orthodox Church was clearly visible in the background.

The photo was also posted to the hotel's social media before being removed.

Kuznetsova had an arrangement with RentHouse, in which she agreed with managers to promote the hotel, where she was staying.

But Dmitry Shabalkin, the hotel's owner, admitted the post had "caused a scandal".

He said: "We had to apologise for the utter idiocy of this picture. She is not aware of the seriousness of the situation."

Police have interrogated Shabalkin and are now seeing Kuznetsova and her unnamed friend.

The pair could face a maximum of three years in prison for causing offence to believers, and a number of jail sentences have already been handed out by Russian courts.

In Moscow, 19-year-old model Helen Reznikova was charged under the new laws after she reportedly filmed a stunt in front of the city's Central Mosque wearing just a fur coat, lingerie and a balaclava.

Maria Katanova, 40, who was seen taking pictures of the model, was also charged, according to the Investigative Committee.

The pair have been banned from leaving Moscow while investigations continue.

Gulnur Gaziyeva, spokeswoman for Russia's Central Spiritual Governance for Muslims, said: "This is exhibitionism, the need to expose oneself provocatively.

"I think that this is a medical [problem]."

She warned: "I cannot urge Muslims not to condemn this. Of course, I do urge them not to take any physical action."

Katanova issued an apology for her role in the stunt, claiming she was preparing a social media presentation to warn people against provocative poses.

Last week, 24-year-old Polina Murugina faced law enforcement checks after she posed naked in front of a Moscow church.

Last year 2021 two pranksters were jailed for 10 months for simulating oral sex near onion-domed St Basil’s Cathedral on Red Square.

In another case, in St Petersburg, influencer Ira Volkova, 30, was held in custody for exposing her rear outside floodlit St Isaac's Cathedral.
