Woman, 20, seriously injured and three others hurt in Ayrshire road crash

A woman has been seriously injured and three other hospitalised following a crash in Ayrshire.

Two cars were involved in the smash yesterday morning on the A760 between Largs and Kilbirnie at around 9.30am.

The smash took place near to the entrance of Mills Milk dairy and involved a Renault Twingo and a black Kia Soul.

The 20-year-old female passenger from the Renault has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to serious injuries.

The 20-year-old male driver of the Renault and the driver and passenger – both women aged 63 and 71 respectively - from the Kia have all been taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.

The road was closed until around 2pm to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Scott Gourlay, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries into the circumstances which led to this collision are ongoing.

“I would urge anyone who may have information which could help to come forward. We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the road around the time of the incident.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1066 of 27 November.”
