Woman, 18, dies and four injured with two fighting for life in horror car crash

A young woman has died and two people left fighting for their lives after a horror crash on a major UK road.

Police said an 18-year-old passenger died at the scene following a single-vehicle collision on A13 in Essex, while four other occupants of the car remain in hospital. Two of them are in a critical condition.

The crash was first reported to emergency services at around 2.30pm on Saturday afternoon, with the stretch of the road around the Pitsea Flyover remaining closed in both directions for just over ten hours.

The woman's family have been informed, and are being supported by specialist officers.

Essex Police are now asking for witnesses to come forward with any information.

Detective Sergeant Sam Nason from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit told local media: “This was a tragic collision, and our thoughts are with those involved.

"We are continuing multiple enquiries this morning including speaking with witnesses and reviewing CCTV and dashcam.

“We believe there were a number of witnesses, many of whom helped those involved. We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision or have any CCTV or dashcam to get in contact.”
