Wolves stars given musical performance before crucial Leeds clash in relegation battle

Wolves stars have been treated to an acoustic performance by a rising music star Ben Kidson who the club have signed to their own record label.

Wolves announced a Premier League first in 2021 after setting up their own record label. The Chinese-owned Molineux club have teamed up with Warner Music UK who are helping distribute the music.

Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant, who supports Wolves, has also been helping the club’s label nurture talent. Now fellow Wolves fan Kidson is hoping to hit the big time with his new single ‘Joking’, which has been played on BBC Radio 1.

Kidson said: “It’s mad to be signing to a record label, let alone a record label that is also my football team. It’s nice to be able to represent my club, as well as doing something I love”.

Kidson combines the alt-rock energy of his heroes Nirvana, with a love for the pop music of Harry Styles and Taylor Swift. His song is about when he drank too much and told one of his close friends he was in love with them. Now, awake again and supremely hungover, he attempts damage control - problem is, he was telling the truth.

Kidson is going to perform his track live at Molineux on Saturday for Leeds’ visit ahead of its release next Thursday (March 23) after demonstrating it to Julen Lopetegui’s squad last week.

Legendary music manager Peter Rudge, who managed The Who and The Rolling Stones, is also on board as a consultant. Wolves fan Rudge said: “Football and music are a universal language.

“Wherever in the world you visit you will likely see a Beckham or a Beatles t-shirt, and the footballers of today have so much in common with musicians in terms of influencing and setting the cultural tone of the times.

“I am thrilled to be involved in this initiative, to be able to be part of creating Wolves Records, and thus merging two of mine, and the world's, great passions - football and music.” The label is inviting emerging artists, bands and producers to send in music for their consideration.
