Wolves receive double injury boost ahead of Leeds United clash but red cards rule out duo

Wolverhampton Wanderers could receive a double injury boost ahead of this week's match against Leeds United as the Whites travel to Molineux on Wednesday night.

Matheus Nunes has been sporting a shoulder injury since Wolves' game against Brentford two weeks ago but should be good to go for their bout against Leeds.

The 24-year-old has struggled to adjust to the Premier League since transferring from Portuguese side Sporting CP in the summer transfer window and this injury has done him no favours.

Speaking ahead of their Brighton game at the weekend, then-interim boss Steve Davis said:

"Just Matheus, really, that is being assessed for tomorrow. He is the only one that’s 50/50. Hopefully, he is OK. Everyone else is fine."

Toti Gomes, who suffered an injury in October could also return for the hosts as well with Davis saying two weeks ago: "Toti started running this week, so it’s great to see him back out there. [It's] probably be a bit too soon for him, but he’s on the road to being recovered."

Both Diego Costa and Nelson Semedo are both suspended after they picked up straight red cards in separate games - Costa for a headbutt on Ben Mee against Brentford and Semedo's came against Brighton.

The hosts will also be without Chiquinho, Raul Jimenez, Sasa Kalajdzic and Pedro Neto as all four continue to suffer with injuries, meaning Leeds will want to take full advantage of the amount of players out for Wolves.
