Wolves 1-0 Tottenham: Spurs stung late on for second time in a week

Tottenham were punished late on for the second time in a week after Adama Traore scored an 82nd-minute winner for Wolves in their Premier League meeting at Molineux.

Spurs had started well off the back of a midweek humbling in the FA Cup at Sheffield United, showing plenty of intent with Dejan Kulusevski denied by Jose Sa’s fine parry on the stretch.

But the game became a stop-start affair with Diego Costa taken off on a stretcher having landed awkwardly on his knee before Max Kilman suffered a bloodied nose as long stoppages punctured both teams’ momentum.

Eight minutes of added-on time in the first half allowed Pedro Porro to rattle the crossbar with a free-kick as Spurs ended the half the brighter side.

Spurs, once again, raced out the blocks for the second period and Heung-min Son smashed the woodwork after being played in by Harry Kane.

Wolves replied on 54 minutes with their first shot of the game, Raul Jimenez forcing Fraser Forster into a smart reflex save with a header from Adama Traore’s cross.

The Tottenham goalkeeper endured a busy spell to try and maintain the stalemate, parrying a pair of long-range Ruben Neves rockets before a third moments later flew over his bar.

There was not much of a reply from Spurs, which meant they could hardly complain when Jimenez’s effort was parried back into the box and Traore squeezed home a finish off the underside of the crossbar to claim all three points for Wolves.
