Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United LIVE: Premier League result, final score and reaction

Molineux Stadium, the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers - (Getty Images)

Follow live coverage as Wolverhampton Wanderers face West Ham United today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC 1 - 0 West Ham United FC

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:42

FULL-TIME: WOLVES 1-0 WEST HAM

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:40

JUST WIDE FROM MUNETSI TO MAKE IT TWO!! Strand Larsen strode purposely through the middle of the park for Wolves, but as his pace slowed, he looked around and saw support in the shape of Munetsi who timed his run perfectly. He approached the keeper and bobbled his shot wide with Starnd Larsen desperately trying to get on the end of the skewed effort at the far right post.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:38

We are into the third of five minutes added on at the end of this game. No crisis as of yet for Wolves.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:36

THAT WAS A GOLDEN CHANCE FOR SOUCEK TO DRAW WEST HAM LEVEL!! An horrific mistake from Toti Gomes allowed West Ham's substitute Soucek to drive inside the box from the right wing. He drifted across Agbadou who darent comitt the foul, the Czech Republic star then proceeded to shoot wide from close range after doing all the hard work. That shot and opportunity was squandered.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:34

Substitution Jean-Ricner Bellegarde Boubacar Traoré

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:33

Cunha is in attendance at Molineux this evening to support his teammates. He will be relieved to see they are coping in his absence. Controversy is never too far away from the Brazilian and he had to clarify comments made rearding his ambition earlier in the week.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:32

Yellow Card Matthew James Doherty

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:32

Fullkrug again attempting to use his frame to unsettle Wolves, but the home side are happy to mix it up and get physical themselves. Soucek turns away with disdain as Fullkrug flicks on a header that is way too far infront of him to make anything of.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:26

Substitution Rayan Aït-Nouri Santiago Ignacio Bueno Sciutto

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:26

That ball from Paqueta was a peach. There has not been enough of that from the Brazilian. He has some off-the-field issues that are well-documented and have called his inclusion in recent weeks into question.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:25

Yellow Card João Victor Gomes da Silva

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:25

FULLKRUG HITS THE BAR WITH A HEADER!! That was trademark Fullkrug after a whipped ball was delivered from the right by Paqueta. The central striker headed firmly from a fair way out, only to see his effort rebound off the bar. The follow up from Alvarez was miscued horribly wide.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:21

Substitution Oliver James Scarles Emerson Palmieri dos Santos

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:21

Substitution James Michael Edward Ward-Prowse Tomáš Souček

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:21

That epitomises West Ham's struggls this evening. Wan-Bissaka drifted all the way over from the right-wing area. He somehow kept the ball but as he attempts to knit something together with Scarles and Soler, the move breaks down again. Nothing is going their way.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:17

Yellow Card Niclas Füllkrug

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:15

STRAND LARSEN SHOOTS WIDE!!! Doherty again marauded forward in support on the right-wing. After receiving a pass near the byline, he cuts back a low cross that finds Strand Larsen in the box. He tries to wrap his foot around it but it goes wide of the goal at the keeper's left post.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:15

We are back under way at Molineux!

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:15

Substitution André Trindade da Costa Neto Pablo Sarabia García

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:13

Graham Potter has his hand clasped around his chin as he muses over what he can do next in an attempt to sway this game his team's way. There is time on the clock, but they don't look like troubling the Wolves goal at the moment.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:12

Sa labours just a little longer than Wolves fans are comfortable with after collecting a pass back outside his area. He evntually plays it out of play on the Wolves right.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:10

A little bit of afters between Ward-Prowse and Semedo after a challenge. Each have hold of the other's shirt before Joao Gomes acts as peace-maker. Probably just as well Cunha is not on the pitch.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:09

Another Ward-Prowse free-kick is slung in from a deep position. But Wolves again are equal to it. Only one assist from the former Sothampton midfielder this season, which will surprise many.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:07

Areola launces a long ball from the back, but the away side fail to hold onto the ball and Wolves can mount another attack. They may not have threatened the West Ham goal as much as they would like, but their general play has been very good.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:05

Will we see another goal in this game? One thing Wolves fans can say, is that they have been served up plenty of goals during this season’s fixtures. If there are two plus goals in this game, then they will reach the 100-goal mark in just 30 games. Unfortunately, 58 of them have been at the wrong end of the pitch! No Premier League team has a greater combined total of goals for (40) and against (58) this campaign.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:04

Still just the one shot on target from West Ham. It is all very comforatble for Wolves at the moment.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

21:01

CURLING EFFORT JUST WIDE FROM BELLEGARDE!! Bellegarde nearly doubled the home side's lead after a lovely feint that took him away from the West Ham defender. He knocked the ball nto Strand Larsen who immedaitely played it ack to him on the edge of the box. The curling, carressed shot with his right boot was just sent out too far of the kepper's left-hand post.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:59

A significant drop in tempo at Molineux. The onus is on West Ham to instigate something. The away crowd are quiet, and just as I say that Fullkrug creeps behind the Wolves back line and brings down a high ball and tries to get a shot on goal from the right-hand side, but it is suitably rebuffed by the Wolves defence. Good movement from the forward though.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:57

Fullkrug is trying to get involved and is putting himself in the right positions. How West Ham have missed a focal point in attack with the injury sustained to Antonio.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:54

Bowen is unlucky as his skewed effort is off target, he is the only one trying something in attack at the moment for the visitors.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:51

Substitution Aaron William Cresswell Carlos Soler Barragán

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:50

Substitution Evan Joe Ferguson Edson Omar Álvarez Velázquez

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:49

Substitution Luis Guilherme Lira dos Santos Niclas Füllkrug

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:46

West Ham have struggled to find a way of getting striker Ferguson involved in the game, although the big forward maybe should have done better early in the encounter when Bowen centred just a few yards out. With Fullkrug now closing on a return, you wonder how long it may be before Potter looks to wave his magic wand and summon the German centre-forward from the bench. The live win probability percentages are weighted heavily in Wolves' favour as you'd expect with them one-nil up. Their live win percentage is at 65.2%, with West Ham's dropping to a meagre 11% and 23.8% for the draw. The game is still finely balanced, the next goal will be pivotal.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:41

An entertaining half of football comes to a close with Wolves deservedly ahead through their talismanic number nine Strand Larsen. The Norweigan notched his 10th goal of the season on 21 minutes after a sloppy interception allowed him to have the ball centre of goal and he was not about to turn away that kind of gift. West Ham had some early moments on the break, but as the half wore on, those moments became more and more fleeting as Wolves asserted their dominance. The only regret the home side may have, is not turning their dominance into a stronger lead. West Ham need more composure on the ball if they are to get a foothold in this fixture. Wolves have been too slick, moving the ball much quicker.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:35

HALF-TIME: WOLVES 1-0 WEST HAM

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:34

We are into stoppage time at the end of the first half with three minutes added on.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:32

Bowen finds himself surrounded by three Wolves players and in a heap on the West Ham right. Their appetite has been impressive. Wan-Bissaka had just previously just failed with a one-two with the England winger. Wolves are stifling the Hammers effectively.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:30

Just one touch in the opposition area so far from the West Ham and Ireland striker, Ferguson, which echoes that point.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:28

It has to be said, Ferguson has struggled to impact this game so far. It has been all Wolves barring a couple of breaks away on the counter. In fairness, the service has been poor as West ham simply can't keep the ball or wrestle it away from Wolves for long enough.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:26

ANDRE STRIKES OVER FOR WEST HAM!! The Brazilian demonstrated a lovely feint from the left-wing position, he cut inside and looked to hit a fierce shot that swirled but ultimately did not trouble the keeper Areola as it was just over the bar.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:24

BEAUTIFUL PLAY FROM JOAO GOMES IN THE WEST HAM BOX IS NEARLY REWARDED!! The Wolves schemer was instrumental in the middle of the pitch, pirouetting his way into the area via a couple of delicate one-two's. He then attempts a shot that is blocked up into the air and then the impudence to set himself for a rabona near the six-yard box. He is having fun out on the pitch this evening.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:21

Wolves' Semedo shows a clean pair of heels to Scarles who has no real option but to take him down on the Wolves right. The young academy graduate could have a tough evening ahead.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:17

Yellow Card Konstantinos Mavropanos

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:17

Yellow Card José Pedro Malheiro de Sá

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:17

Mini let-off there for Wolves who had to clear a long looping ball at the back post. Doherty hooked clear but at the expense of a corner. Can West Ham respond?

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:15

NEARLY TWO FOR WOLVES!! The bar is still rattling after an effort from Munetsi had Areola beaten all ends up. Some lovely play on the edge of the area involving Strand Larsen and Gomes finished with a crashing shot against the West Ham bar.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:13

Yellow Card André Trindade da Costa Neto

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:11

Both teams have approached the game admirably, looking to attack. The fact that they are matched up similarly in terms of formation is making for some fascinating battles all over the pitch.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:06

Goal Jørgen Strand Larsen

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:06

Bowen this time with an effort for West Ham. He jinked this way and that before firing a timid left-footed shot from outside the area into the grateful arms of Sa.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:04

INCREDIBLE SAVE FROM AREOLA!! Wolves nearly take the lead after a beautifully flighted ball in from Ait-Nouri is flicked goalwards by Toti Gomes, only to see Areola fling himself to his left to palm away.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:02

SO CLOSE TO THE OPENER!! A fortuitous ricochet off Wan-Bissaka broke to Bowen who scampered down the right-hand side and kept going until he reached just to the right of the six-yard area. He squared it to Ferguson who surely just had to tap home, but it was behind him, and he could only adjust his body so much to get something on it, and it was blocked by the covering defender.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

20:00

Ward-Prowse has actually scored from a direct corner for West Ham, but not from a direct free-kick.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:59

Ward-Prowse struck the resulting free kick, and even though it dipped, it was always sailing over the crossbar. Danger averted for Wolves.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:58

Agbadou steps across Bowen as the England attacker broke menacingly through the middle from the right-wing area of the pitch. The Wolves defender could see he was building up speed and looked increasingly concerned. Free kick around 40 yards out.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:55

Wolves enjoying the majority of the ball, with West Ham happy to burst in counters with their pace up front.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:54

A boot change already for Guilherme who makes his first Premier League start of the season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:53

Semedo's first chance to get a ball in from the right is flat and too low, but they recycle the ball and maintain possession. Doherty is happy to stride out in that three-man defence and support Semedo down the right. Expect that to be a feature this evening.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:51

Free-kick to Wolves after a smart turn from Bellegarde catches Paqueta out in the centre of the pitch.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:50

A long, direct ball tests the Wolves defence, but Doherty was equal to it and heads away. The ex-Spurs man is a big part of the physicality Wolves possess. Only Strand-Larsen has won more aerial duels for the Midland outfit this season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:49

Wolves have an early spell of possession, but all in their own half. A scurrying Bowen robs the defence of the ball but Bellegarde-not neglecting his defensive duties-takes the ball back.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:47

West Ham get the game under way!

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:46

The teams emerge from the tunnel to an expansive pyrotechnic display at Molineux. We are close to kick-off here.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:23

The big news for West Ham in terms of line-up, is that Ferguson starts his first game for the Hammers since his loan move from Brighton. Graham Potter had intimated that might be the case in his press conference, stating the forward was 'ready to play' after his goal-scoring exploits for the Republic of Ireland. Elsewhere, there are more changes (four in total) to the team that drew with Everton. Todibo makes way for Cresswell at the heart of the defence. Emerson drops to the bench with youngster Scarles preferred in the left wing-back role. Tomas Soucek is sacrificed for Luis Guilherme, and Kudus is relegated to the substitutes' bench with Ferguson drafted in.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:15

For Wolves, it is as you were, with an unchanged eleven the reward for the players who started the 2-1 victory against Southampton. Bellegarde is in good form at the sharp end of the pitch, which is well-timed given the absence of the enigmatic Brazilian Matheus Cunha. Cunha serves game three of his four-match suspension this evening after his initial red card punishment was lengthened following his 'improper conduct' charge against Bournemouth.

West Ham will see this as an opportunity to extend their sizeable points advantage over Wolves and record only their fourth win since the turn of the year. Graham Potter is still finding a way to get the best out of the group at his disposal and will be keen to get back to winning ways after impressive victories over Arsenal and Leicester in February were clouded slightly by the loss to Newcastle and the stalemate versus Everton in March.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United

19:15

Wolves enter this fixture looking to build upon some solid showings throughout March. The Midlands side picked up a draw against Everton and recorded a win over a struggling Southampton side, propelling them nine points clear of the relegation zone on 26 points. They sit just one place below tonight’s opponents West Ham in the Premier League standings but have amassed eight points less than their London rivals, who have a 34-point tally for the season.
