The NBA trade deadline is about six weeks away, and pretty soon, the league will likely see trade activity start to ramp up as teams are getting a better idea of their respective strengths and weaknesses.
The Los Angeles Lakers have a 17-15 record and are in eighth place in the Western Conference following a rough stretch of games. While a large number of home games in January could improve that record, it’s clear to many people they could use a boost via the trade market.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the two big things the team is looking for are speed and athleticism.

“Speed and athleticism are certainly a priority,” Wojnarowski said when asked which positions the Lakers are looking to upgrade.
The Lakers are clearly at their best when they get out and transition and score either on their fast break or in early offense. While D’Angelo Russell is a very capable point guard, he isn’t particularly quick or explosive, nor does he look to attack the rim often.
One rumor has them looking to land Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray, who is fairly quick and explosive, not to mention a strong defender. A 3-and-D player who can also finish strong in transition would also help.
