According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka may face a hefty suspension or other disciplinary action for having a consensual intimate relationship with a female staff member. Woj reported that “discussions are ongoing” as to any possible punishment, but Udoka could be suspended for the entire season.
A decision is expected as soon as this Thursday. Celtics media day is set for Monday, September 26, and training camp will tip the next day. Wojnarowski reported assistant coach Joe Mazzulla could replace Udoka in the interim, but no decision has been made at the time of this writing.
Udoka joined the Celtics last season in his first stint as an NBA head coach. He led Boston to its first trip to the Finals in over a decade, and was hired by outgoing head coach turned president of basketball operations Brad Stevens.
No final decision has been made on the length of a suspension, but internal discussions have included scenarios that would keep Udoka out for the entirety of the 2022-2023 season, sources told ESPN. https://t.co/Vnn2wWVcKA
