Witness 'saw two suspicious men' on Nicola Bulley walking route day before disappearance

A witness who claimed to have seen two men allegedly acting suspiciously close to where Nicola Bulley walked her dog has reportedly said that the pair were "trying to hide their faces".

On January 27 Bulley, a 45-year-old mortgage adviser, vanished while taking her springer spaniel Willow along a river towpath in St Michaels on Wyre. Initially, foul play was ruled out by police, who believe she fell into the River Wyre, near where her phone was found.

However, weeks of trawling up and down the river has yet to yield any results, with police now expanding their searches on the coast at Morecambe Bay.

A witness has now reportedly told police that they saw two men acting suspiciously nearby to the route Nicola walked the day prior to her disappearance. According to reports they were allegedly carrying fishing rods and appeared to be hiding their faces by wearing hats or hoods.

The witness added that they spotted one of the men the following day, the day Nicola disappeared, in the same area. He also said that as he was away on the weekend, he did not hear about the disappearance until Sunday.

When he then rang the police that Monday, he claims that they did not get back to him for nine days.

Speaking to The Sun, the witness said: “I first saw them at around 7:45am on my way to work on the Thursday, the day before Nicola Bulley vanished. I drive that way every day, so know the road well.

“I saw two men wearing dark clothing and hoods or hats and carrying fishing rods.

“They could have been just two normal fishermen and if I had seen their faces I wouldn't have thought anything of it. But I remembered that they seemed to want to hide their faces, which struck me as odd."
