A witness at a Pennsylvania rally where former President Donald Trump was targeted in an assassination attempt has come forward with crucial information. The witness, Ben Macer, reported seeing a gunman moving “from roof to roof” just moments before the attack unfolded. Macer informed an officer about the alleged shooter's location on the roof, highlighting a potential missed opportunity to prevent the incident.
According to Macer, he was positioned along a fence line when he observed the suspicious movement. As he turned away and headed back to his original spot, gunshots rang out, plunging the rally into chaos. The swift response from law enforcement led to the fatal shooting of the alleged gunman, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, by Secret Service agents.
The FBI has disclosed that Crooks hailed from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, located approximately 35 miles south of Butler, where the rally was taking place. The revelation of the shooter's identity and background sheds light on the circumstances surrounding the attempted assassination of the former president.
