‘With Love, Meghan' fans warned by skincare expert: 'Don't try this at home!'

Meghan Markle’s latest wellness advice has sparked concern among skincare experts, who are urging caution over her DIY bath salt recipe featured in her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.

In the show’s premiere episode, the Duchess of Sussex prepares a homemade bath salt blend as part of a gift basket for her longtime friend Daniel Martin. However, skincare professionals warn that her approach may be more harmful than beneficial.

Esthetician and YouTuber Jennifer Christopherson issued a strong warning to viewers: “Don’t try this at home!” The bath mixture includes Epsom salt, Himalayan salt, arnica oil, and lavender oil. However, experts say Meghan’s method is flawed—particularly in how she casually tosses in ingredients without precise measurements. When asked how much to use, she simply shrugs and replies, “Quite a bit.”

According to skincare specialists, that imprecision could lead to skin irritation. Meghan’s biggest mistake, they say, is failing to dilute the essential oils with a proper carrier oil before adding them to the salts. Instead, she pours two full pipettes of arnica oil and three drops of lavender oil directly into the mix.

Christopherson, who analyzed the recipe in an 18-minute critique, called the undiluted arnica “a crap ton” and emphasized that essential oils must be used carefully to prevent adverse reactions. “You can’t just dump an essential oil in, give (it) to a friend, and be like, hey, have fun,” she cautioned, urging viewers to ignore Markle’s method entirely.

Experts warn that improper use of essential oils can cause skin irritation, rashes, or even burns, particularly when applied in excessive amounts. While Meghan’s intention was to create a thoughtful and luxurious gift, professionals advise taking a more informed approach when handling essential oils and DIY skincare remedies.

As Markle continues expanding her wellness brand, her latest recommendation serves as a reminder that not all celebrity-endorsed health trends are risk-free.
