With Liam Coen out, will Jaguars add new names to second head coaching interview list?

With Liam Coen now out of the running for the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching opening, will the team now add new names to their second round of interviews?

Currently, the Jaguars are now down to two finalists for the head coaching role. Set to interview on Thursday of this week is Patrick Graham and then on Friday Robert Saleh.

There are two primary reasons why the Jaguars might choose to bring in an additional candidate or two for a second interview. For one, to do their due diligence and make sure that no stone is left unturned.

But in addition to that, both Graham and Saleh are defensive-minded head coaches. And if the Jaguars would potentially like an offensive perspective, then someone else is going to have to be brought in.

The logical options if the Jaguars do go down this route are Baltimore offensive coordinator Todd Monken, Philadelphia offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, and Buffalo offensive coordinator Joe Brady.

All three had initial interviews with the team.

Since the Ravens are eliminated from the playoffs, Monken can take an in-person interview at any time. However, with the Eagles and Bills still playing, Moore and Brady are not able to interview until next week at the earliest, which would obviously further prolong this process.

While Trevor Lawrence said that, naturally, he would be biased towards an offensive-minded head coach given that he plays quarterback, more importantly, he wants a leader who can step in and help reset the culture that has grown a bit stale over the last year-plus.

“I think from a leader standpoint, whether it’s an offensive coach or defensive coach just a guy that’s going to instill that culture,” Lawrence said recently.

“That toughness into our team and just that confidence that it doesn’t matter when we’re playing, who we’re playing, just spot the ball and we can beat anybody. And just a tough team that other teams don’t want to play against.”
