Lisa Thompson, a home economics teacher at Clyde Valley High School, was nominated as this week's Say It With Flowers recipient by Michelle Williams and members of the school’s parent group, for her tireless work and dedication to the school and wider community.
Lisa, 31, lives in Motherwell with her husband Craig and son Jude and she has been a teacher at the high school for the past nine years, and in that time has dedicated her working life to ensuring the welfare of her students.
Netherton resident Michelle told Lanarkshire Live: “Lisa has a particular interest in helping out the school, as well as the local community.
“Before Christmas she set up a ‘little shop of happiness’ to provide help to anyone in the school who needs it.
“She has also struck up a connection with Kings Church in Motherwell who have linked in with her to provide a food box.
“She has also come to the parent group to see if we can expand that in the Overtown community.
"Lisa works tirelessly and the personal work she has put in is phenomenal.
“She provides breakfast for the kids who need them and she goes above and beyond and she is doing an amazing job.”
And when Michelle told us about Lisa, we were delighted to be able to help out, surprising her with this stunning floral arrangement, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals in Newmains.
“I think it’s fantastic what she is doing. She is an absolute star,” added Michelle.
And on receiving the flowers Lisa told us: “It was such a lovely surprise and I feel like I am just doing my job.
“The little shop of happiness has been well received. It’s anonymous and we supply school uniforms, clothes, toiletries and a breakfast bar to anyone who needs it.
“The children pay for them by doing something kind in the community; something nice to pay it forward. It has quite a nice ethos.
“I really appreciate all the support and I couldn’t do it without all the support from other staff and people in the community who donate to the shop.
I would like to thank Michelle and the parent group for nominating me and to the Wishaw Press and Pixies Petals for the lovely flowers.”
