Wishaw resident opens up his garden to host family fun day to help local families

A big-hearted Wishaw resident is opening up his garden to host an event for two community organisations that provide help to families facing hardship.

Charity@Home and Resourceful Community Volunteers have again joined forces with an event that will raise money to help others in the area.

NHS worker Angie Cheney runs Charity@Home, they operate from a container in a gated-yard near Aldi in the town where they hold open days selling nearly new clothes and other items and buying food vouchers with the proceeds, which are then donated to families.

One of her friends and work colleagues, Andrew Rayson, has kindly offered to hold a fundraising Family Fun Day in his front garden and an adjacent play park in the town on Saturday, July 2.

Angie said: “Anyone can pop along, we will have the usual stalls, tombola, raffles and face painting for the kids.

“There will also be karaoke and there’s an optional buffet with tickets for that priced at £5 for adults, which includes a maximum of two kids eating for that price. We’re hoping it’s going to be a lovely sunny day and all the money raised will be used to help families in our local community, as well as donating vouchers to the local food bank.”

The event will take place at Bluebell Wynd, ML2 0PP, which is off Castlehill Road, and will run from 12 noon until 4pm.

All are welcome.
