Wishaw community police officers have been targeting the illegal use of off road motorcycles and quad bikes as part of Operation Moto X due to reports of their anti-social use.
The use of these vehicles on the road which in terms of the relevant road traffic legislation also includes footpaths, football pitches and other areas to which the public have access is illegal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Anyone identified by police as being involved in the illegal use of these vehicles will have them seized and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
“This could have consequences for not only the rider but if different also the owner of the vehicle.
“For example in the case of a parent having purchased the vehicle for their child to use.
"This may include a fine and points or driving licence ban.
“Once seized it may be difficult and costly to have the vehicle returned to you due to the requirement to have the appropriate licence and insurance.
“The community policing team at Wishaw also work with North Lanarkshire Council to have appropriate action taken against those involved in anti-social behaviour.
“We would like to encourage members of the public to continue reporting when these vehicles are being used but also any information in relation to who they belong to and where they are being kept.”
