Wishaw gym members raise cash for Lanarkshire-based kids charity

Members of a Wishaw gym got their sweat on to raise cash for a Lanarkshire-based kids charity.

The team at New Age Fitness, based on Kirk Road, began a fitness challenge in aid of the Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation.

In total £472 was raised, which will go to the Wishaw-based charity that helps children with life-limiting illnesses.

New Age general manager Kim Winters said: “To raise money we held a Charity Sweat Open.

“This was an hour long workout in which teams of three people competed. A Sweat class is a mix of functional, CrossFit and circuit based workouts.

“We also raised money from the sale of T-shirts and members donated to the charity buckets.

“I would like to thank all the teams who competed and all the members who donated to help us raise much needs funds for this great charity.

“I would also like to than my amazing team for helping organise the event and for motivating all those who took part.”

DreamMaker Foundation co-ordinator Angela Cook popped along to the fitness centre to pick up the bumper cheque alongside Kim Winters and New Age Fitness personal trainer, Lewis Macleod.

Angela said: “This donation from New Age Fitness staff and members is fantastic.

“We know how hard things are for everyone just now and to have local people continuing to hold events and raise much needed funds for our small charity and the brave children that we support means the world to us.”
