Wishaw boss David Dunn has snapped up 16 players from his current squad for next season and hopes more will commit their future to the club in the coming days.
The Beltane Park boss has moved swiftly to secure club captain Aiden Ward for another season, alongside defenders Neil Reynolds, Scott Nicol, Stephen McGurgan, striker Kieran Campbell and last season’s top scorer Kieran Brannan.
Davie Collins, Chris Patrick, KB Grant, Gary Duggan are also set to be officially announced in the coming days, with more names to follow next week.
The club are starting preparations for next season’s West of Scotland Second Division campaign and will return for pre-season training on June 18.
Delighted Dunn said: “You always want to get your business done early and at the end of the season I spoke to all the squad about our hopes for next season.
“The boys are buying into where we want to take this club next season and I’m delighted to get 16 of them signed up so far.
“There’s a couple still deciding what they are going to do and there’s some coming in during pre-season for me to have a look at.
“The majority have signed up again so that’s great for us. I’m speaking to players daily and I’ll always be on the lookout for guys to help us keep pushing forward.”
There is, however, one piece of disappointing news for Dunn after key striker John Cunningham decided his future lies elsewhere.
Dunn revealed: “I’ve lost John Cunningham who has decided to go to Lanark.
“I’m disappointed with that because he was a major player for us but that’s football, we just need to move on.
“I’ll go down different avenues now and I’ll look to strengthen in that area in the next few weeks before pre-season.
“We are back for pre-season on June 18 and our first game back will be July 30. It’s not long. In six weeks we’ll be back at it.”
