Wisconsin 13-Year-Old Who Tried to Enter Elementary School With Guns Made Eerie Internet Searches, Cops Reveal

Law enforcement has revealed that a 13-year-old suspect, thwarted from entering an elementary school while allegedly carrying firearms, conducted recent internet searches related to school shootings.

A 13-year-old was arrested Thursday after attempting to enter Roosevelt Elementary School in Kenosha, Wisconsin, while carrying "suspicious bags" that police believe contained firearms, NBC reported. Confronted by staff at the school's entryway, the teen fled into a nearby neighborhood but was later taken into custody.

"We believe that this was actually an armed suspect with a firearm, and there was no legitimate reason to enter the school," Kenosha Police Chief Patrick Patton stated.

Authorities shared video evidence of the teen practicing "rudimentary techniques" with a rifle and said they uncovered multiple internet searches related to school shootings.

The incident prompted a "secure hold" at the school, and Kenosha Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Jeff Weiss commended the school's "safety work" for preventing potential tragedy. "Today we are thankful," Weiss said.

"If you see something, say something," police urged parents, encouraging vigilance in the shaken but grateful community.
