Winter Love Island: 2020 start date, rumoured line-up, trailer and new host revealed

Winter Love Island is now just days away from launching, and the new series promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The show will see a group of singletons couple up in a bid to win a £50,000 cash prize for the first ever winter series in South Africa.

The first trailer was released earlier this month, along with some teaser trailers, and now the all important launch date has been confirmed too.

So what is else do we know about the new series?

Amber and Greg won the fifth series of Love Island (ITV)

When does Winter Love Island start?

The dating show, which was last won by Amber Gill and her now-ex Greg O’Shea, will be returning to ITV2 less than six months after series five ended in August this year.

ITV2 has announced the return date is January 12.

Where is the trailer?

After weeks of speculation ITV finally released the trailer on Friday, December 6.

Who's in the 2020 line-up?

Of course, we don’t know this yet as Love Island traditionally announce the hopefuls – usually a mixture of ordinary people, influencers and siblings of celebrities – a week before the first episode.

Rumours that have floated around so far include Katie Price's ex Charles Drury, social influencer Jay Munro, who was dubbed the "hot door pusher" after he appeared during the Voice Australia.

Where is the new South African villa?

Former presenter Caroline Flack, told her fans on Instagram stories to look forward to the new settings for the villa.

She said: “We have just landed in Cape Town for Winter Love Island.

The new villa will be in South Africa and not Spain (ITV)

“We are not sure what to expect – we don’t usually film it in the winter, do we?”

After Flack was arrested and charged with assault, she announced she is stepping down from this series as she "did not want to detract attention" from the show.

Laura Whitmore has since been confirmed as the new host of Love Island.

Fan favourite Iain Stirling has confirmed he will be back to provide his voice for the narration series six.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain earlier this year, he said: “Do you know what, it’s gonna be an absolute blast.

“Winter Love Island is gonna come back sooner than you thought and it’s gonna be enjoyable.”

Will Aftersun be back?

The popular spin-off is returning, with Whitmore confirming she will be hosting that too following Flack's arrest.
