Winning £1m EuroMillions ticket goes unclaimed in Liverpool

Someone in Liverpool has missed the chance to become a millionaire after a winning EuroMillions ticket bought in the city was not claimed.

The National Lottery's operator Camelot UK announced today that the £1m UK Millionaire Maker prize from the draw on September 7 2021 has passed its 180 day deadline without being claimed.

The successful ticket for the EuroMillions prize was bought in Liverpool but the deadline to claim the prize was at midnight yesterday.

As the deadline has passed, the money, plus the interest it has earned, will now be used to help fund National Lottery Good Cause projects.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said, “Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money.

"However, the money will now add to the more than £30m raised each week for National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.

“We’re encouraging everyone to check their tickets online at national-lottery.co.uk or by downloading the National Lottery app. You can also buy and check your tickets in retail.

"Playing online via the website or app means that your ticket is checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize. You can also scan your retail tickets on the National Lottery app to check if you're a winner."

The ECHO reported in February that time was running out for the owner of the winning ticket to claim the prize.

With all National Lottery draws, players have 180 days (about six months) from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket.

All prizes that do not receive a valid claim after 180 days, and any interest they have earned, add to the more than £30m raised each week for National Lottery-funded projects.

This money goes towards a variety of projects projects in the arts, sport, heritage, charity, voluntary, health, education and environmental sectors.

To date, over £45bn has been raised for National Lottery Good Causes, with more than 660,000 individual grants awarded.

EuroMillions Millionaire Maker guarantees to create a millionaire in every draw, and for every EuroMillions line played UK players automatically receive a EuroMillions Millionaire Maker code printed on their ticket.

Anyone who has any queries or who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0333 234 5050 or email help@national-lottery.co.uk.
