Winnie Harlow's 'pure' kitchen color marks the 'freshest style trend to emerge in 2025' – experts say it's ultra-modern and 'always ready to serve'

Winnie Harlow.

When asked to picture a traditional kitchen color, white is likely the first to come to mind. Often dubbed as 'eternally timeless,' this tone continually outlives more fleeting design movements – but the secret is in its adaptability. An example of this is seen in Winnie Harlow's home.

The product of Martyn Lawrence Bullard's genius, the white kitchen is ultra bright, modern, and striking. Despite using a 'commonly' used neutral, it doesn't feel like a cookie-cutter space. Instead, Martyn has designed a room that feels unlike any other. It's wholly contemporary, complete with deep black-painted pockets that juxtapose the otherwise white palette. Better yet, her look taps into a kitchen trend that, designers say, is changing how we decorate for the year ahead.

'Pure interior design is the freshest style trend to emerge in 2025, shaping quality home environments that promote relaxation and thoughtfulness in the home,' comments Matt Phillips, the head of operations at the German kitchen manufacturer Rotpunkt. 'Combining light-colored, minimalist cabinets, natural woods, and a cozy approach to décor, Pure-style interior schemes answer the growing desire for inviting white interiors that are ultramodern and always ready to serve.'

In Winnie Harlow's case, her kitchen cabinets, countertops, and walls are a bright white color – but you can tap into the trend with any variation of the tone.

'Taking inspiration from the world around us, this year’s color palette for the modern kitchen will present a series of monochromatic and neutral shades that offer variations of white,' Matt explains. To master the look further, Winnie has chosen a walnut kitchen floor – ensuring the space feels cozy instead of clinical.

'Whether bright or soft, shades of white, gray, and black continue to remain a great foundation color to either match, complement, or contrast in style, and 2025 will see the white kitchen place a new focus on quality raw materials as a way to bring a cozy minimalist style and contemporary warmth,' Matt says.

'Look out for a broad mix of dark and light hardwood timbers through to modern frame options, fluted designs in wood and glass, and metal décors, as these types of materials have become a staple in the modern kitchen for establishing a strong connection to nature in a white kitchen scheme.'

We love the contrast seen in Winnie's wooden flooring against the kitchen's monochromatic features. It's a look that perfects the design trend for 2025. However, we can trust it's an investment that's unlikely to fall out of fashion.

'Natural walnut in shades of creamy white, light brown, and dark chocolate are the wood of choice when paired with stark white cabinets in 2025, with oak still considered the next best alternative for variety and texture.'

Alongside white cabinets and kitchen countertops, you can tap into the aesthetic with timeless accessories.
