Manchester City fans have sent messages of support to Julian Alvarez as the striker prepares to face off against France in the World Cup final on Sunday.
Alvarez has been impressive for Argentina at the tournament in Qatar, with the 22-year-old registering four goals and one assist for Lionel Scaloni's side. The Blues frontman, who scored a brace in the semi-final victory over Croatia, is likely to start alongside Lionel Messi for the South American side.
France, who won the tournament in 2018, are bidding to become the first team in 60 years to retain the trophy, while Argentina are looking to triumph for the third time in their history. The European outfit defeated Morocco, England and Poland in the knockout stages in Qatar, while the South American side overcame Croatia, the Netherlands and Australia to reach a sixth World Cup final.

Alvarez started the first two games of the tournament on the bench, but was named in the starting line-up for the previous four matches. He went into the World Cup in good form having registered seven goals and two assists in 20 matches for Pep Guardiola's side this term.
City fans are desperate for the striker to return to Manchester having triumphed in the final. Here's what some Blues supporters had to say on social media:
Guardiola's side return to domestic action against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup next Thursday, but Alvarez will not feature in the match, given that it comes just four days after the final in Qatar. It remains to be seen if he will return in time for the Premier League clash against Leeds United on December 28.
