Winger Leon Dajaku leaves Sunderland for loan move at Swiss top flight club

Sunderland winger Leon Dajaku has joined Swiss side FC St Gallen on loan for the remainder of the season. The move, which will go ahead subject to international clearance, will see the 21-year-old join the team sitting third in the Swiss Super League and which is bidding to secure European qualification.

Germany U21 international Dajaku spent last season on loan at Sunderland from Union Berlin, scoring four goals and contributing four assists in 22 League One outings. A clause in the loan deal meant the move became permanent when the Black Cats were promoted from League One.

But he has been a fringe figure this season, making only two starts and eight substitute outings in the Championship. Sunderland's sporting director Kristjaan Speakman said: "Leon made a positive impact during his first season in England and although he is a versatile forward, our attacking positions are currently occupied by some of our most high performing players.
