It won’t be on five days a week anymore, but there’s just a little life left in “Windy City Live.”
WLS-Channel 7 told its employees Wednesday that the local talk show will air its last episode as a Monday-through-Friday series on Sept. 3.
A staff email from John Idler, the station’s president and general manager, did not explain the cancellation but called it “a tough decision” that reflected “our industry’s challenging times.”
Val Warner and Ryan Chiaverini, the “WCL” hosts since its launch in 2011, will remain with ABC-7 and will host a new weekly edition that will air at 11:30 a.m. Fridays, Idler said.
The series, which presented a 10th anniversary special in May, was created to replace the “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Idler told the staff the show’s “impactful storytelling and community outreach exceeded all our expectations.”
There was no announcement about a replacement show in the “WCL” time slot at 1 p.m.
