Australian triathlete Matt Hauser is the man to beat in the international Super League series after he rallied from a frustrating opening race to claim the overall lead.
Hauser continued his strong form by winning race two in Munich, beating New Zealand's Hayden Wilde and taking the series lead from him.
The week before in London, Hauser took second behind Wilde at race one when he was penalised incorrectly for another competitor's false start.
There were no such setbacks in Munich, as Hauser held off Portugal's Vasco Vilaca and Wilde on the last run leg to win the round and lead the series by one point.
Munich was the enduro format of a 300m swim, 4km cycle and 1.6km run, raced three times.
"It certainly wasn't pretty out there. I was battling some demons especially on that second bike," Hauser said.
"But it was a big last swim and I brought it home for the Eagles (his Super League team).
"On the last run it was all or nothing and I managed to use the downhills with my long legs."
The five-event series now heads to Malibu, California this weekend.
"There'll be more pain, but I love Malibu and it'll be great to be back in the surf and hopefully catching a few body waves."
Hauser won two bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games, amid six podium finishes in as many international races this year.
