Wimbledon 2024 best dressed celebrities: Princess of Wales, Zendaya and Paul Mescal

SW19 became the centre of London again, as Wimbledon 2024 electrified the South of the river.

It all began with a win from Emma Raducanu and civilised applause from Britain's most famous David's: Beckham and Attenborough.

The two national treasures sat Centre Court on day one of the two-week affair, while outside hundreds formed an orderly queue which snaked into Wimbledon Park.

Arrivals made their way through two types of protest lining the entrances; pro-Palestine groups chanted and waved flags as they chastised Barclays, one of the tournament’s main sponsors, while locals urged tennis-goers to sign a petition to prevent a proposed 39-court expansion of the site

Inside, guests gathered at Centre Court for the first match which saw Carlos Alcaraz beat Mark Lajal. Not before a spot of lunch, however, which confirmed the celebrity hospitality hotspots this year.

In the pink was evian’s 'Mountain Of Youth' VIP Suite, where actor Lucy Boyton led guests with a candy floss-shade bob and embroidered babydoll dress from Celine, complete with a patent pair of Mary Jane ballerina flats. Inside she was joined by singer Arlo Parks, in Thom Browne, actor Jameela Jamil, in a navy Reformation dress previously worn on-screen in The Good Place, and her boyfriend, musician James Blake who opted for a co-ord beige suit, tee and suede slip-ons. Also there were Pixie Lott, celebrating her new single Somebody’s Daughter, and her husband Oliver Cheshire, who wore his fashion brand CHÉ Studios — they all went home with personalised, evian water bottles.

Elsewhere Ralph Lauren, ever a hub of Wimbledon’s chicest fans — Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller and Zendaya, all to come — kicked off with a daddy, daughter day: Poppy Delevingne attended with her father, Charles Delevingne, while Princess Maria Olympia of Greece and Denmark arrived in-arm with Pavlos, Crown Prince of Greece. At Lanson’s spot, Lorraine Kelly and Myleene Klass sipped rosé champagne, while singers James Blunt and James Bay were spotted making their way across site.

Day two saw the rain arrive — but dampen Rebel Wilson’s floral spirits, it could not. Joining the Australian actor at Centre Court was the Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl, who is currently feeling the wrath of the Swifties having claimed Taylor Swift did not play live on her Eras Tour, and who attended with wife Jordyn Blum. The Spencer Twins, nieces of Princess Diana, also made their way in smart tailoring, The Rest Is Politics co-host Alastair Campbell sported a pink blazer for the occasion, while singer Grace Jones rocked an aviator hat in the stands.

The third day, on General Election eve, saw former Conservative Prime Minister Theresa May wash away any nerves with a Pimm’s at Wimbledon. Making up the rest of a more unlikley cohort was Sex and the City’s Kim Cattrall, Spice Girl Melanie C and Emma Weymouth, Marchioness of Bath. Elsewhere, enjoying the Lanson box, was Dawn O'Porter, Dermot O'Leary and Hannah Waddingham. While Romeo Beckham was seen following in the footsteps of his dad David’s attendance a few days earlier, watching Emma Raducanu vs Elise Mertens on court number one in a combo of green suede jacket and casual white tee.

The fourth day of the event saw Kim Sears and daughter Edie cheer on Andy Murray and brother Jamie in the men’s doubles. Clearly Kim got the memo about this summer’s trends checklist as she wore a white tee and oversized sunglasses with tapered leopard trousers. Also in attendance was Carole Middleton, in a floral Cefinn dress, worn with a cropped white ME + EM blazer and raffia bag.

With the third round of singles matches taking place at Centre Court on day five, an eclectic crowd braved the rain, including Dustin Hoffman and Lisa Hoffman, singer Mollie King and Lady Amelia Windsor, whose green midi dress, check-lined trench and espadrilles were spot on for the weather.

On Sunday, Ralph Lauren hosted the great and good in their Centre Court suite co-hosted by British Vogue, which saw guests counting Bridgerton’s Luke Thompson join the fashion media heavy-weights including Katie Grand and Haimish Bowles.

The second week started with smart outings from model Edie Campbell and The Crown’s Dominic West, before Tuesday succeeded in drawing the starriest crowd yet. Sienna Miller — unofficial queen of Wimbledon — joined boyfriend Oli Green in a sepia two piece, before they took their Royal Box seats with Princess Beatrice, Lena Dunham, Stephen Fry and Michael McIntyre.

It was Royal Wimbledon come day ten, with arrivals led by none other than Queen Camilla sporting a cream, waist-tie day dress. She was joined by Zara Tindall, in a Me+Em dress, Peter Phillips and new girlfriend Harriet Sperling while the Princess of Wales’s parents, Carole and Michael, attended for their second day. Celebrity highlights included Alexa Chung, Joe Alwyn and Leo Woodall, who were entertained in the Ralph Lauren Suite, while Keira Knightley, in a white Chanel outfit, sat with her husband James Righton in the Royal Box.

The eleventh day set Brat summer in stone, as Charli XCX joined Stormzy and Central Cee in the evian suite, before Margot Robbie, dressed in a polka dot, white gown by Alaïa, arrived on Friday, day twelve.

For the final weekend blow out, watching the finals for the men’s and women’s single tournaments, a flurry of the biggest A-listers arrived in their droves.

Attending for the duration of the weekend was Tom Cruise and Zendaya, the latter — in her tennis era thanks to her most recent film, the racquet-romp Challengers — who committed to smart shirts and jaunty ties from Ralph Lauren. Anya Taylor-Joy was the only guest who could rival her for a fashion statement on Saturday, carrying the canary bird JW Anderson clutch bag.

On Sunday, the concluding day, all eyes turned to the Princess of Wales who was met by a standing ovation as she arrived at Centre Court in a royal purple, draped dress from London label Safiyaa. The princess, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, and arrived with her daughter Princess Charlotte, completed her outfit with shoes from Camilla Elphick and the nude leather ‘Milly’ handbag from LK Bennett.

The Ralph Lauren box also went out with a bang; all sporting their Lauren looks, Glenn Close, Pierce Brosnan and Andrew Garfield all put their smartest tennis shoes forward. Until next year.
