Newcastle United took another giant step towards Champions League football with a thumping 5-1 win over West Ham at the London Stadium. The Magpies weren't at their brilliant best but didn't need to be as David Moyes' men made it easy for them in the capital.
Two sloppy, early goals followed by a catalogue of West Ham errors in the second-half ensured Newcastle kept the pressure on Manchester United and the rest of the European-chasing pack at the top of the Premier League.

Wilson celebration explained
Callum Wilson started from the outset against West Ham and found the net twice to repay Eddie Howe's faith. The striker scored a fine header in the first-half and the simplest of tap-ins in the second.
Wilson clearly hadn't only found his shooting boots but also his dancing shoes as he celebrated the game's opening goal with a little boogie in front of the West Ham supporters. If anyone was confused as to why Wilson was doing the 'Macarena' at the London Stadium, it appears it has something to do with his podcast host and West Ham striker Michail Antonio.
"Obviously Michail Antonio and myself, we do a podcast together, he’s been giving me some stick and been saying whoever scores needs to do that celebration and today it was nice to do it in front of the West Ham fans," Wilson said after the game. "You get caught up in the moment when you’re away, it was one of those things where I thought I’d do a little dance for the fans. I got a bit of stick for it but it’s nothing personal."
Howe left fuming
Eddie Howe is usually calm and composed - especially when his side are two goals ahead. But as his players gathered on the touchline for a drinks break in the 30th-minute, Howe was seething.
His team hadn't started the game particularly well, despite being 2-0 up and Howe was making sure that they kept the pressure on before the half-time interval. Asked about the out of character display after the game, the Newcastle boss said: “We set such high standards for ourselves that we want the team to play at the highest level. We were a bit sloppy at times.
“I’m delighted with the spirit and determination. We haven’t been (ruthless recently). To add that to our game would make us a stronger team.”
Moyes utterly baffled
Newcastle wasted no time after the interval and had the ball in the back of the net 20 seconds into the second-half. David Moyes had hardly had time to re-emerge from the tunnel as he watched his team give away a sloppy goal after a defensive mix-up.
Sky Sports cameras cruelly cut to the West Ham boss as the goal went in... and safe to say he was not happy with what he had seen.
West Ham fans leave early
West Ham fans had seen enough by the 78th-minute as they streamed out of the London Stadium in their droves with over 10 minutes of normal time still to play.
Those that stayed in their seats beyond that point were treated to late goals courtesy of Alexander Isak and Joelinton. Newcastle's away end, on the other hand, was absolutely bouncing until the very end as the travelling support enjoyed a memorable trip.
Speaking after the game, Moyes admitted he would have walked out too if he had been a paying customer...
