Australia's trailblazing Gangurrus have shot into Olympic medal contention, Alex Wilson starring against the United States to make it three-straight wins.

After a loss to Canada, a 21-19 win over Germany on Wednesday kick-started their campaign before a 21-15 win over China and 21-19 triumph over the Americans on Thursday morning at La Concorde.

In Australia's first 3x3 Olympic basketball appearance, the women's side are now 3-1 and in the mix for automatic semi-final qualification with three round-robin games to play.

Six of eight teams progress at least to the first play-off round and the US are in danger of dropping out after sinking to 3-0.

Wilson has been Australia's go-to weapon, hitting the game winner against Germany then top-scoring with 11 and eight points against China and the USA respectively.

"We make adjustments as we go, fixing little things that we messed up from previous games," Lauren Mansfield said.

Australia will complete round-robin pool action against Azerbaijan and Spain on Friday and France on Saturday.
