Wilson details Rangers strategy for Bowley as waiting game revealed

Wilson details Rangers strategy for Bowley as waiting game revealed

ROSS WILSON has revealed Ceri Bowley will help shape Rangers' "football methodology" as part of his first-team role at Ibrox.

The coach joined Giovanni van Bronckhorst's coaching team after departing the City Football Group where he had worked alongside the Dutch boss.

Bowley's appointment has come six months after Van Bronckhorst's appointment as Rangers boss - and Wilson insists that was intentional.

The sporting director explained that discussions were held when appointing Van Bronckhorst deciding that an open position on the coaching team would be held.

And Bowley was identified as the candidate for the position having agreed to join the club "some months ago" but working through a notice period at CFG.

Discussing the new coaching addition, Wilson said: "Firstly, a warm welcome to Ceri and we are really pleased that he joins our support staff.

"During the process to appoint Gio as our new manager, we discussed that we would retain an open position to add another coach into our group.

"We wanted that person to bring a different and wide skillset as we continue to develop our football methodology across the club.

"Ceri agreed to join some months ago and is now able to start following the conclusion of a notice period with the City Football Group."
