DALLAS — Willie Nelson and Family will headline the multi-artist Outlaw Music Festival Tour 2022 that will make a stop July 2 at the Dos Equis Pavilion at Fair Park.
The 19-show tour gets underway June 24 in St. Louis and features a rotating cast of artists.
Nelson, 88, is coming off an emotional Luck Reunion performance, his first concert without his sister, Bobbie, who died March 10. The Luck Reunion show also had taken a two-year break because of the pandemic.
In mid-February, Nelson canceled several of his indoor concerts, including a March 19 performance at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, because of COVID-19 concerns. Nelson has been a proponent of COVID-19 vaccinations and received his first dose of the Moderna vaccine 14 months ago in Cedar Park, near Austin.
His Dallas appearance, the fifth on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour, will feature Willie Nelson and Family and include Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Brothers Osborne, Charley Crockett, Steve Earle and the Dukes and Allison Russell.
“The Outlaw Music Festival Tour has always been about family and friends coming together for a great day of music and fun, and with the amazing group of artists joining us, this year promises to be our most special Outlaw Tour to date,” Nelson said in a statement.
Tickets for the general public go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
The Outlaw Music Festival debuted in 2016 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The sold-out show was so well received that Nelson and Blackbird Presents, the tour organizer, have since developed it into one of the biggest annual touring franchises in the U.S.
