Willie Collum unites Celtic AND Rangers punters but irate Hotline regular insists 'I'm not paranoid'

Aberdeen have said goodbye to Jim Goodwin but are the Dons ready to take a walk on the Wilder side?

Record Sport revealed the former Sheffield United and Middlesbrough boss is keen on the Pittodrie post. But Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, isn’t so sure that would be the right move for Reds chairman Dave Cormack, saying: “Chris Wilder would be a mistake. He wouldn’t stay long and if an English club called he’d be away. Neil Lennon or Davie Martindale would bring that club off their knees.”

Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, called to say: “Aberdeen will need more than a JCB digger to dig them out of the hole Goodman has left them in and certain players should have be shown the door. The board need a manager who will put fire in the belly of this crop of underachievers. There’s only two men for the job and it’s either Neil Lennon or Scott Brown. If this fails, rip up all the players; contracts and take your chances in the employment courts.”

William Masson, Aboyne, added: “Gutted it hasn’t worked out for Jim Goodwin. When appointed, I thought he’d progress the club and himself but sometimes it just doesn’t work. He deserved better than being left to jump over the advertising boards on his way out. His former players have no hiding place now - good luck to the next holder of the poisoned chalice.”

The Dons wasted no time emptying Goodwin after Saturday’s 6-0 shocker in Leith and Neil Renton said: “Well done to the Aberdeen fans who stayed to the end as they watched their team get demolished by Hibs. In all my years I’ve never seen a Dons team as woeful as the one that turned up at Easter Road.”

But Rab Mack, Edinburgh, said: “I'm not being fooled by the Hibs win against a poor Aberdeen team, but then any win’s a good win. Unless of course you’re Jim Goodwin.”

Another weekend, another round of Premiership VAR controversy.

Henry Moffat, Stirling, was raging with Willie Collum’s Ibrox performance after he awarded Rangers a debatable penalty, sent off St Johnstone’s Nicky Clark before rejecting the advice from his video assistant to send off Ryan Jack. Henry said: “Well well, just when you thought another week of blatant Video Assisting Rangers surely wasn’t possible, a blatant red card for them ignored, another dubious penalty, an opponent wrongly sent off, and a Celtic opponent let off with a clear red card. When will Scottish football wake up to what is happening right before its eyes?”

Kenneth Wilson rang in to say after Celtic’s Tannadice triumph: “It’s hardly surprising Celtic fans are paranoid about refs after yet another three blatantly obvious mistakes from the ref gifting Rangers the points. But the Celtic juggernaut rolls on after yet another dominant performance. It’s three points closer to another title.”

But Rangers fan Chris Lowe, Yoker, was also on to discuss the officials, saying: "Good to see former referee Des Roache saying it’s time for Willie Column to go. As a Rangers fan we’ve been saying that for years, he’s woeful!”

Paddy Gowans emailed in: “No wonder Scottish football a joke, these referees are a law unto themselves. Their decisions are unbelievable at times.”
