Rangers have raised concerns over the "competency" of referee Willie Collum following his controversial performance during the draw with Hibs.
The club have made their move to appeal John Lundstram 's red card after the midfielder was given his marching orders for a cynical foul that stopped Martin Boyle in full flight during Saturday's 2-2 draw. That was far from the only call that whistler Collum was involved in having awarded a penalty against Hibs defender Rocky Bushiri for a tug on Antonio Colak which allowed James Tavernier to open the scoring. The man in the middle continued to dominate the talking points after sending off Alfredo Morelos for a raised arm on Marijan Cabraja.
On top of the appeal, the club have raised concerns over the performances of the man in the middle. A report has suggested that this is far from the first time that the Ibrox side have raised concerns over Collum with the governing body.
The Rangers Review state that in previous seasons Rangers "have expressed specific concerns about Collum’s competency" as an official. The frustrated Ibrox higher-ups have now reiterated their complaint over the official after his display at Easter Road.
The club have also been irked by an almost identical call in the English Premier League. In their appeal they will point to the challenge made by Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier on Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne.
The original red card that was handed to the England cap was reduced to yellow on VAR intervention. Rangers will use this as further evidence that Lundstram’s punishment was too severe.
