Willian completes Nottingham Forest medical as ex-Fulham winger nears transfer decision

Nottingham Forest have taken a key step towards the signing of Willian after the Brazilian winger completed a medical on Thursday evening.

The 34-year-old reignited his career at Fulham last season but rejected a one-year offer to extend his contract at Craven Cottage.

Fulham have been keen to restart negotiations and have offered an improved package, which Willian is still considering having recently held talks with Forest boss Steve Cooper to hear out their proposal.

Should he choose Forest, Willian will sign a lucrative deal to play at the City Ground and could have the option of finishing his career in Greece with Forest’s sister club, Olympiacos.

The option of staying at Fulham was initially Willian’s preference yet the terms on offer were deemed unsatisfactory, leaving Marco Silva searching for replacements.

The Cottagers have also lost Manor Solomon after his free transfer to Tottenham.

However, they will hope that the path is clear for them to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea while a £20m deal for Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade is set to be completed.
