Bradley Cooper and Denzel Washington are reported to have "calmed down" Will Smith after he smacked Chris Rock in the face at the Oscars.
The Hangover star was spotted having a word with the best actor winner during a commercial break and was seen placing his hands on his shoulders, reports US Weekly and a raft of other outlets in America.
Bradley, 47, approached the married father-of-three and had an intense conversation, reports OK.
It came after Will smacked the comic in the face for his joke about wife Jada Pinkett Smith's buzzcut.
Chris quipped: "Jada, can't wait for GI Jane 2."
Later on in the evening, Will won his Oscar and as he walked up to the stage he slapped the presenter, before returning to his seat and shouting: "Keep my wife's name out of your f****** mouth."
The joke Chris made was a reference to the 1997 movie G.I Jane - which starred Demi Moore sporting a buzzcut similar to Jada's.
Jada has previously opened up about her decision to shave her head, after suffering from alopecia.
Will later confirmed Denzel Washington had also spoken to him off-camera.
“Denzel said to me, ‘Be careful. At your highest moment, that’s when the devil comes for you.”
Mum-of-two Jada rolled her eyes at the quip, before Will strode onto the stage and hit Chris across the face, telling him: "Keep my wife's name out of your f****** mouth."
The star apologised for his behaviour towards Chris earlier in the live ceremony during his acceptance speech, but he also referenced his character Richard Williams as being a "fierce defender" of his family
“Art imitates life,” he went on. “I look like the crazy father, just like they said about Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things," Will finished with an apology to the Academy and the nominees.
Following the incident, Chris attempted to laugh it off and continued presenting the gong for Best Documentary.
Rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs then took to the stage to present next, and he addressed the awkward moment straight away, encouraging: "Will and Chris, we’re going to solve this like family. Right now we’re moving on with love. Everybody make some noise."
The Academy has since put out a statement over the incident at this year's awards show, with a spokesperson tweeting: "The Academy does not condone violence of any form. Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world."
